Song of the Fallen
"Eremus lies in ruin. The Conqueror has not conquered, but he has destroyed. The New King laments for the fallen. The price of Eremus was great. The new Eremus will be greater still..."
This song is another one of my favorites. The idea from it comes from a song I released a while ago on my SoundCloud page called "Rise". I felt the only way to end the album was to hammer home one specific musical idea, and so I used the chord progression from rise, and I just have it build and build and build... The sound of the song is very tragic, which I feel is fitting. I could have ended it on a happy note, but it didn't feel right to do so. The overall tone of the album is too somber.
In terms of instruments, if I'm not mistaken, this is the only song to feature woodwinds besides the first song. In terms of looking at all of the songs compositionally, I'd say that this is my favorite. It's very minimalist in a lot of ways, which I appreciate.
