Glimpses of Destiny

"War is brewing, but the Farmer is calm. His eyes are set upon the call. He continues to wait upon the Lord as the fullness of his destiny is revealed..."

This song is by far the most abstract song on the album, in terms of structure. I'm not going to lie to you; I'm still not entirely sure what it is about. When I first made the album list, I intended to make this more of an action song, to show the Farmer getting a chance to use his training and garner a following of some sort. However, after completing the Conqueror of Worlds, I really felt like there needed to be a break from the action for a bit, so I went in the ambient direction instead. The end result is... this.

In many ways, it seeks to capture the relationship between God and the Farmer, and it draws some parallels between the Farmer and the King of the Sand. For instance, instrumentally, this song seeks to be the opposite of every theme that the King of the Sand has. Rumors of War features the King of the Sand's theme in piano reverses; this song has ordinary piano sounds in it. The King of the Sand's theme utilizes very harsh sounding guitar reverses; this song features Jacob Altemus playing far more mellow electric guitar sounds. The King of the Sand's atmospheres are very gritty and dark (especially in the following song, Vaecordia), while the pads and atmospheres here are much lighter.

At the end of the song, I hint at the Song of the Fallen just a bit, just to elude to what's to come. The destiny of the Farmer is to repair the ruins of Eremus after the clash between the Conqueror of Worlds and the King of the Sands, so his destiny is not exactly a happy one. This is eluded to again in Ultimate. In his success, his call is fulfilled, which is a relief to him, but at the same time Eremus has nearly been destroyed, so his work is cut out for him to repair it.
